Islamic banking was launched in Malaysia nearly three decades now, back in 1983. However, the market share of Islamic retail banking (IRB) still seemed to be relatively low. Therefore, the main aim of the present study is to analyze the difference in the awareness, perception, and preferences on IRB between the urban and rural banking customers of Malaysia. Hence, a comparative analysis was conducted based on 537 respondents representing both urban and rural regions of Malaysia. Results revealed that there is a significant difference in terms of awareness and on perceived complexity, uncertainty, and observablity. There also seem to be some variations for returns, loan repayment period, service charges, and overdraft facilities. Thus, the findings would be useful for the banking sector in understanding the customer perception and preferences concerning IRB, and to promote it strategically, and for the relevant authorities, in promoting specific regulations and policies that enhance the market share of IRB....
The purpose of conducting this study was to examine television advertisements and children�s food using pattern when they were watching television and their desire to purchase goods that they saw advertisements on television. This study was conducted in two parts. In the first part, content analysis of the television advertisements was conducted. In second part of the study, a questionnaire was given to 200 parents. Total of 75 of these parent�s children were attending 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades of the primary schools and 125 of the children were attending the pre-schools. The results showed that children were bombarded with so many advertisements and their behavior was more influenced by the television food advertisements. The study investigates the relative importance of the factors determining the selection and preference of banks by retail customers. Using multi-stage sampling procedure, a total of 417 retail bank customers were selected and subsequently participated in the survey. The mean, standard deviation, Z-scores and weighted scores were computed using both SPSS software and Microsoft office excel. It was found that some factors highly influence the customers� choice of banks. Similarly, it was also revealed that customers show high preference for some banks as against others.
